about
Phil: It's a concept I came up with whilst thinking about how quickly the Arts/Music sector got thrown to the wolves during the pandemic.
It became abundantly clear that it was not a focus of our government to protect or save jobs in this sector.
Working in hospitality myself I also felt like a disposable commodity the way it was deemed safe for us to work just so we could have a Christmas and then quickly put back on shelf when it suited.
Disposable Dogs is an anthem for anyone who felt like their life choices got deemed "not viable" by our government, and fuck you towards them..
lyrics
Imagine being told your lifes not viable,
The job you love, the life created “just isn't worth the funds”
I got this noose around my neck,
Your index finger is already stretched and pointing at me towards the door
retrain, relearn, reskill... the nerve
That's what they keep on telling us
I think it's time we took the floor
But your falling at the wayside
Like disposable dogs,
They pick us up at christmas, new year and were thrown away
You gotta pick up yourself, before you fall and collapse
You gotta pick a new path, before your out on your ass
You gotta pick a fresh outlook, toaster and bath
You gotta pick a new life, so your family survives
These are the problems that we face everyday,
These are our problems and they don't go away.
So you're falling at the wayside
Your body starts to shake
Your focus starts to shift
Like disposable dogs,
They pick us up at christmas, new year and were thrown away
We are viable, our lives are viable, our choices viable, our families are viable, our passion is viable, our love is viable, our art is viable, we are viable
Like disposable dogs,
They pick us up at christmas, new year and were thrown away
